Want to see some of the most amazing footwork in ballet? You need to check out the dancers of Ballet22.
This company of men who dance en pointe was co-founded in 2020 by Roberto Vega Ortiz, who possesses two of the strongest feet you’ll ever see in a pair of satin slippers. He and Ballet22 have been using pointe work to break down gender stereotypes ever since, offering an impressive mix of excerpts from 19th century classics and bold commissioned works by international choreographers.
Their summer program, “Juntos,” features an energetic ensemble piece by Cincinnati Ballet member Joshua Stayton, the whiz-bang grand pas de deux from “Don Quixote,” and new dances by Puerto Rican choreographer Fernando Ramos and former ODC/Dance member Natasha Adorlee.
